Follow these instructions, as presented by participants of the CityParks Tennis program, and you’ll definitely get better at tennis!! CityParks Tennis, presented by Chase, is one of the largest municipal tennis efforts in the U.S. It reaches 7,000 kids ages 6 to 16 each year, in 37 parks throughout the five boroughs of New York, and offers free lessons and equipment. The program promotes physical fitness, while building self-confidence and is designed to make the sport of tennis freely available to those who want to learn the game in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Participants from Wolfe’s Pond Park on Staten Island took some time away from playing to give us tips on how to improve your tennis game. On July 11, CPF, Chase, and the U.S. Tennis Association held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the Wolfe’s Pond Park Tennis Courts. After the bayside courts were destroyed last fall by Hurricane Sandy, Chase generously stepped in to help refurbish them. With additional support from CPF, the USTA, and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, the courts reopened just in time for the start of this summer’s free CityParks Tennis program.
