City Parks Foundation (CPF) is the only independent, nonprofit organization to offer park programs throughout the five boroughs of New York City. We work in over 750 parks citywide, presenting a broad range of free arts, sports, and education programs, and empowering citizens to support their parks on a local level. Our programs and community building initiatives reach more than 600,000 people each year, contributing to the revitalization of neighborhoods throughout New York City.

People doing yoga in a park

City Parks Foundation welcomes all New Yorkers, ages 60 and over, to participate in CityParks Seniors Fitness. Our Fall 2010 season of Seniors Fitness programs will return again in September, offering free tennis lessons, yoga instruction, and fitness walking in nine parks across the city. We look forward to seeing our returning seniors and meeting some new faces.

Just like City Parks Foundation’s free sports, arts, and education programs for kids and communities throughout New York City, CityParks Seniors Fitness aims to keep neighborhood parks a great place for community activity. Even in moderate amounts, exercise can help us feel better, maintain or lose weight, reduce risk of heart disease and diabetes, and minimize the symptoms of arthritis. No matter how old we are, our bodies always benefit from physical activity.

For more information about our free Seniors Fitness programs please call our Sports Department (718) 760-6999. All equipment and instruction is provided free of charge.

This program is supported by Zwicker Electric; Hon. Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President; Hon. Malcolm Smith, NYS Senator, 14th District; Hon. Martin J. Golden, NYS Senator, 22nd District; Hon. George Onorato, NYS Senator, 12th District; Hon. Vincent J. Gentile, NYC Councilmember, 43rd District.

In all of its programming and activities, City Parks Foundation partners with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to improve neighborhood parks and the communities they serve.
