Jaguar Wright lives up to her namesake—she’s sleek and sexy, but she’s not to be trifled with. Emerging from the same Philly neo-soul scene that produced Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild and The Roots (on whose records she’s often sung), Wright first achieved significant recognition when she sang backup on Jay-Z’s 2001 Unplugged performance. In her own music, Wright brings a hip-hip bred sense of empowerment to the usual young diva image.
