Family Programming

This year, SummerStage is focused on family! In addition to our Central Park Family Day featuring indie-rock stars They Might Be Giants, we will also be hosting free family workshops in parks all around the city.

Come before select shows to participate in our all-ages, family-friendly workshops, from dance, beatboxing and DJ classes to Latin percussion sessions and more! No need to register - just walk up and join the fun!

Pre-show dance workshop 4pm, All-Ages/All Levels with Kwikstep: Legendary B-Boy and Bronx native KwikStep of Full Circle Productions teaching the fundamental moves of Hip-Hop and Street dance.

Featuring 6pm workshop with Scratch Academy

July 12 Ladies of Hip Hop Festival with Special Guest Amirah Sackett
Featuring a pre-show dance workshop 7pm, All-Ages/All Levels with Ladies of Hip-Hop conducting a class in the fundamentals of Hip-Hop led by Dancers from around the globe.

July 13 Judy Torres / Cynthia
Featuring a dance workshop 6pm, All-Ages/All Levels with legendary house dancer, Conrad Rochester, bringing his entity, The Loft Practice to SummerStage, incorporating popular moves and techniques from the 1980’s all the way through the present.

Featuring 4pm workshop with Scratch Academy

July 21 Joe Bataan / Felix Hernandez Rhythm Revue
Dance Workshop 6pm, All-Ages in association with the Museum of the City of New York featuring Franck Muhel and Team Rhythm & Power sharing history and some of the essential dance moves to groove to the rhythms of Joe Bataan and the Felix Hernandez Rhythm Revue.
