Ask Me Another from NPR and WNYC

6.14.2013 | 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm | (10) Comments | Central Park | Directions to Event ›

Puzzlemaster Will Shortz and Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! host Peter Sagal walk into a bar… No, it’s not the start of a joke. It’s the essence of NPR’s and WNYC’s Ask Me Another, a rambunctious show that blends brainteasers and local pub trivia night with comedy and music. Host Ophira Eisenberg invites guests and listeners alike to stretch their noggins, tickle their funny bones, and enjoy witty banter and guitar riffs from the Ask Me Another one-man house band, Jonathan Coulton.

Join Eisenberg as she puts questions to a rotating band of puzzle gurus, contestants and special VIP’s (that’s Very Important Puzzlers), who then take a turn in the puzzle hot seat facing trivia games written especially for him or her. What you’ll hear resembles the casual intimacy of game night at a friend’s house: one where scores are forgotten in favor of hilarious gaffes.

SummerStage attendees can play along as the on-stage contestants take a turn in the puzzle hot seat at this special live recording of the famed variety show.   The night’s VIP’s include singer/songwriter Nellie McKay,  New York Times Crossword Puzzle Editor Will Shortz, host of WNYC’s Studio 360 Kurt Andersen, comedian and director David Wain and NBC’s The Office alum B.J. Novak.

SummerStage kindly reminds our patrons that in the interest of public safety the following items cannot be brought into the Central Park venue: glass bottles, cans, coolers, folding chairs, bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, beach umbrellas, video cameras, tape recorders, professional camera gear or pets.  All bags are subject to search. Bringing alcoholic beverages into any NYC park is forbidden and the distribution or sale of unauthorized promotional materials is not allowed. Beer and wine are on sale at the Central Park venue for onsite consumption only.

So, is this particular show (Jonathon’s part) free, or need tickets? The site which directed me here had a “Buy Tickets” option, but this site says it’s free… so now I’m quite confused, but still very eager to attend..

This is a free show. No tickets are needed. First come first served until capacity is reached.
